Optimal placement of locally controlled voltage regulators in traditional distribution systems using the IMDE algorithm

Abstract One of the main goals designers power systems is reduction extra costs. The part these costs related to energy loss, and methods for loss significantly lead a cost reduction. voltage regulators (VRs) can be used along distribution feeders improvement network profile results in system. However, important problem installation location this equipment have most profitability with lowest cost. In paper, optimal placement VRs performed using intersect mutation differential evolution algorithm. method aims reduce primary investment maintenance VRs. To aim, studies are on two scenarios standard 33 69 buses. A genetic algorithm (GA) also utilized validate results. show that about 15% maximum system load. Moreover, improved performs better than GA makes objective function minimum value.
